Spreadsheet - an electronic document in which data is arranged in the rows and columns of a grid and can be manipulated and used in calculations.
Grid reference - a reference indicating the location of the cell on a spreadsheet using its horizontal and vertical reference. The horizontal is the alphabet, whereas the vertical references are numbers Cells - A 'box' on the spreadsheet, often located using a grid reference (A2 for example) |
Setup your spreadsheet
Activities
- Change the orientation of the page to landscape in the page layout tab
- In the view tab, switch to page layout
- Click on the half triangle in the top corner of the screen (as shown in pic 1 below)
- Change the row height and column height to 0.5cm so the cells become squares (as shown in pics 2 and 3) - right click on any column letters or row numbers to see this menu
- Take note of the furthest row and column on a single page (likely to be 'BB' and 34)
- Change back to normal view in the view tab
Build your stadium
Activities
- Rename the tab Sheet 1 at the bottom of the screen to Stadium
- Using the fill button and border button (see picture below), create your stadium.
- Use different colours to show different category seating areas and make a key on the page to show this.
Take Note
To make this project easier, make sure all your seating blocks are rectangular or square. This project becomes more complex if you build unusual stadium shapes.
